An appropriations bill for the Interior Department adopted by the House of Representatives was applauded by some Republicans as one way to "reduce bureaucracy and promote regulatory certainty," but national park advocates said it would do serious damage to the National Park System if it passes Congress as currently written.

Battling Lionfish At Virgin Islands National Park

Lionfish prevention is one of several conservation and protection programs supported by Friends of Virgin Islands National Park. We partner with C.O.R.E. to beat the odds and help train first responders to spot, report and kill lionfish in Virgin Islands National Park. This past year C.O.R.E. trained more than 100 volunteers and caught an average of 12 lionfish a week! Considering a single lionfish can eat dozens of juvenile reef fish, this work is impressive and vital.

Evacuation Warning Issued For West Glacier, Apgar Village At Glacier National Park

With an approaching cold front that could blow up the Sprague Fire, authorities on Wednesday issued an evacuation warning for the West Glacier and Apgar areas of Glacier National Park in Montana. The order didn't call for an evacuation, but rather notified residents to be ready to leave if conditions warranted.

Time For New Uniforms For The National Park Service?

Earlier this year Columbia Sportswear made some news when it became the "official outfitter" of the United Kingdom's national parks workforce. And after releasing a YouTube video that shows off some of the clothing and promotes that deal -- and, of course, promotes Columbia -- the questions arises of whether the U.S. National Park Service should work out a similar deal with one of the large outdoor clothing manufacturers?
