Firefighters were battling flames Sunday in the Saguaro Wilderness in the Rincon District of Saguaro National Park in Arizona.
Grounds crews received help from the sky, as planes dropped retardant and water to help slow the fire, which was reported Saturday morning in the wilderness area just west of the Juniper Basin Campground. By early afternoon Sunday the fire covered nearly 140 acres, with no containment.
The so-called "Box Fire" prompted park staff to close trails originating from Javelina Picnic Area, the Loma Alta Trailhead, X9 Ranch access routes, and the Juniper Basin and Grass Shack backcountry campgrounds.
Further details were no immediately available, nor was a cause of the fire identified.
