Every year, National Parks Traveler posts more than 1,000 articles pertaining to national parks and protected areas. From news to features to videos and podcasts, Traveler works to keep you informed on the National Park System. With that in mind, what stories do you most look for on the Traveler?
We cover as many units of the park system as possible, for we believe that each park -- whether it's a "national" park, a national monument, national river, historical park, historic site, etc. -- has its own faithful following that wants to stay on top of news from that unit and learn more about it. Sometimes best laid plans for that coverage can be disrupted by breaking news, such as wildfires in or nearby parks, management issues, and search-and-rescue missions.
But we strive to present you with features that take a more in-depth look at the parks, such as recent stories on 3 Days In 'The Place,' Acadia National Park, 24 Hours On The North Rim Of Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park, and Bears Ears National Monument: A Museum Of Antiquities And Natural Beauty.
Please, drop us a comment below to let us know what aspects of our coverage you most look for. That helps us as we go through the year and both respond to breaking news and plan feature coverage.
While we endeavor to provide as much coverage as possible, we are limited by having just one full-time staffer. We were fortunate to gain support from The Pew Chariable Trusts to enlist outside writers to help us produce a monthslong series of articles on the maintenance backlog and its impact on the National Park System.
With your help, we can produce that type of news and feature coverage from around the National Park System on a regular basis. But it's not inexpensive. Like you, writers and photographers and editors and IT experts all have bills to pay and need to put food on the table. Please, donate to support editorially independent nonprofit coverage of the parks.

Greetings y’all This Kristie, We are brand new to the site and this adventure. We just ended our first camping trip EVER in the Sierras in California. What a learning experience. Bucket list is to hit the road and visit the United States via travel trailer with passport in hand as travel nurses and not look back. We bought the stamp collection but don’t know what really to do with it LOL. We are just so green at this. Is this the place to turn for help? Or is there a better forum y’all can suggest. I was referred to this sight from the awesome guys at eparks.com. I just created account and cruising around travelers website now. Thanks in advance for any tips.

I always read Rebecca's photographing articles, and all "updates" on park issues, but when they turn "political" & argumentative I skip them.

We used to have forums, but they really weren't getting used. But we understand questions arise from time to time, so we'll try to set aside a "Reader Forum" post once a week for questions about the parks. We'll aim for Wednesdays, so keep an eye out for it. I come here to see information about incidents and information about what is going on in the parks. Information that used to be posted on InsideNPS for employees to see, but isn't any more. The last LE/rescue listing on that site was back in 2017.
I skim over everything and read the articles in depth that deal with policy and decision-making, as well as photography and hiking and other activities in the Western parks.
