So why do some of these amazing formations at Grand Canyon National Park have Hindu names? According to Google:
The Grand Canyon's formations were given Hindu names by geologist Clarence Dutton in the late 1800s because he found the most impressive formations to be reminiscent of ancient religious structures found in Asia. He believed these names would reflect the world's diverse cultures and the canyon's significance. Specifically, he felt the buttes resembled Hindu temples and pagodas.
Note: all the North Rim photos you see for this month were captured during 2018, long before the Dragon Bravo Fire.
