Flight Of The Toilets Coming To North Cascades National Park

Zion National Park in Utah isn't the only park that requires the help of a helicopter to deal with full toilets. At North Cascades National Park in Washington, the Diablo Lake Overlook will close to all visitors and traffic May 20-22 while crews transport toilet-related materials via helicopter to campsites along Ross Lake.

Washington’s National Park Fund Hosts Annual Spring Fundraiser On April 13

Washington’s National Park Fund will host its annual Spring Dinner and Auction on Saturday, April 13, at Seattle Center’s Fisher Pavilion. Focused on “National Parks, Personal Experiences,” this lively event aims to raise more than $300,000 to support priority park projects in Mount Rainier, North Cascades and Olympic national parks.

House Passes Public Lands Package, Sends Measure To President For Signature

A massive public lands bill that protects Yellowstone and North Cascades national parks from mining on their doorsteps, designates some 1.3 million acres of wilderness, and permanently authorizes the Land and Water Conservation Fund passed the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday evening and now heads to President Trump for his signature.

Study Shows Pikas At Risk From Drier Air As Well As Warmer Climates

Pikas, those tiny creatures that announce the intrusion of strangers to their territory with a squeaky bleat that sounds somewhat like "eeek," are known to suffer from warm temperatures. Now scientists studying these cousins to rabbits in the North Cascades National Park Complex say drier air conditions can be harmful, too, by stunting the growth of plants they rely upon.
