Call it a serenade to summer. Next Tuesday a free concert celebrating the "life and nature on Cape Cod" will be performed at the Province Lands Visitor Center in Provincetown.

The Shore Thing will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and be led by Vicky McKee and Jack Pearson, two locals who have long connections to Cape Cod National Seashore.

Ms. McKee, who writes and sings, has been summering in Provincetown since childhood, drawn back year-after-year by the breathtaking landscape and unique sense of community. The Cape was the main inspiration when she decided to add a musical dimension to her career as a writer at the turn of the millennium. Ms. McKee’s musical style ranges from blues to country to rock and folk, and her lyrics celebrate both nature and human nature.

Jack Pearson, who is a lifeguard for the national seashore, accompanies with lead guitar, bass, and percussion. In addition to performing original songs, the two will lead exercises in spontaneous song writing, giving audience members an opportunity to participate in the performance. Meet at the Province Lands Visitor Center. The event is free, accessible, and open to the public.

Seashore trivia: The Province Lands Visitor Center, which is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., has a 360-degree rooftop observation deck that provides views of the surrounding dunes and sea.
