The cost of an annual America the Beautiful — National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass might be increasing by 25 percent for those under 62 come January 1, 2027.
Currently priced at $80, the price would bump up to $100 per year under draft legislation pending in the U.S. House of Representatives. For those 62 and older, the price would double, to $40 a year, according to the draft measure.
For foreign visitors to the national parks, an annual pass would cost $250 if the legislation is passed, while park entrances would "be not less than $100 per visitor nonimmigrant..."
The draft legislation makes no mention of entrance fee levels for U.S. residents.
The House Natural Resources Committee is scheduled to take up the legislation on Friday during a field hearing at Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas.
