Reservations for the Pear Lake Winter Hut can be made beginning December 9/Sequoia Parks Conservancy.

Reservations for spots in the Pear Lake Winter Hut in Sequoia National Park can be made beginning Tuesday, though this winter's window for spots is shortened.

Due to early winter storms and the government shutdown, the hut will only be available from February 6, 2026, through April 5, according to the Sequoia Parks Conservancy. The storms and shutdown made it impossible for the conservancy to fully stock the cabin for the entire winter.

Reservations open Tuesday, December 9, at 9 a.m. PT (first-come, first-served). Beds will be priced at $75 per person, per night.

Reservations are required.

"Due to high demand, some stays may be overbooked in the reservation software. If Sequoia Parks Conservancy finds that more than 10 beds are booked on any night, we will cancel any bookings to bring the total to no more than 10 beds," a release from the conservancy said. "Canceled bookings will be based on the number of beds available and the timestamp of the transaction. This is critical for the safety and enjoyment of everyone at the hut."

Please look at the ski-in/ski-out schedule below when deciding your stay at Pear Lake Winter Hut. While booking, keep in mind that the reservation system will not allow you to book dates that conflict with the conservancy's ski-in/ski-out schedule.

Save the date: Tuesday, December 9, at 9 a.m. PST.

Visit the Sequoia Parks Conservancy Website: On Tuesday, head to the conservancy's website to access the reservation system. In case your chosen dates are fully booked, have several alternative dates available.

Be prepared: The six-mile uphill trip to the hut is for experienced backcountry skiers and is in potentially dangerous winter conditions. For your safety, it is advised that you review all information provided and be prepared for your trip.

Plan for an unforgettable season: Please take note of the ski-in/ski-out dates above. Because of the snow plow schedule, your reservation cannot start or end on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. You can stay at the Hut on those days, but your stay must begin and end on Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday.

Please note: Once booked, there are no refunds except for park or road closure.
