Peraton, a privately held American national security and technology company, has been awarded a task order under its existing contract with the U.S. Geological Survey to support the National Park Service in maintaining the performance, security, and reliability of NPS.gov.
The NPS platform serves as the digital hub for over 400 national parks and historic sites, supporting millions of visitors each year, with over 300,000 pages managed by more than 1,000 authors.
“Our national parks are a treasure for all Americans. Peraton is proud to support the National Park Service in ensuring NPS.gov remains easy to use, secure, and informative,” said Amy Rall, president of the Citizen Security & Public Services Sector at Peraton. “Through this task order, we help the NPS deliver an efficient, seamless experience allowing millions of people to plan their visits to America’s backyard.”
Peraton will work with CoreOnyx, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business that provides IT solutions, to “deliver secure, scalable, and user-centric cloud services to streamline operations and increase efficiency.”
This task order comes two years after Peraton secured a potential 11-year, $1 billion Cloud Hosting Solutions III contract to help the Department of the Interior transition to a single hybrid enterprise cloud in June 2023. The company is tasked with providing IT infrastructure, standardizing service management, updating systems, and enabling “pay-as-you-go” third-party cloud services.
According to Peraton, their work with the National Park Service platform “will strengthen the security posture of NPS.gov, enhance its performance, and ability to support strategic innovations that will make it easier for visitors to plan trips, access educational content, and appreciate the natural beauty of our nation.”
