The National Park Service will host an open house at Cape Cod National Seashore for members of the public who want to learn more about the upcoming Cable Road Multi-Use Path project in Eastham. The open house, which is free to attend, will take place on Tuesday, December 16 from 6-7 pm at the Salt Pond Visitor Center.

The Cable Road Multi-Use Path project aims to install an approximately one-mile-long Multi-Use Path to provide safe beach access to Nauset Light Beach. Cable Road, a heavily used route, extends from the park boundary at Nauset Road, passes two historic lighthouse properties, and ends at the beach.

Approximately ¼ of the planned 1-mile path is already developed as a path leading to the Three Sisters Lighthouses from the beach parking area. The new multi-use path will pick up where the current sidewalk ends at the Three Sisters Lighthouse parking area and will be approximately 6 to 10 feet wide.

The project is currently in the design phase and will eventually include clearing, minor site grading, trail construction, and signage.

The meeting will present the scope of the project, offer design mock-ups, and provide an update on the project status. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comment for the project.

For those unable to attend the public meeting, the public materials and additional information are available on the NPS planning website.
