Searchers on Monday found the body of a man missing at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.

Park officials said 61-year-old Robert Bieri, also known as Bob, was last seen Saturday off-trail in the vicinity of Lewis Falls. He was reported missing to park rangers that evening and a full-scale search operation was launched. His body was found in the same area.

Lewis Falls is one of several popular hiking destinations in the park. The trail to the falls is a 3.3-mile loop with a 990-foot gain in elevation, according to the National Park Service. It's rated as a moderate hike and estimated to take about four hours roundtrip to complete.

Bieri was from Severna Park, Maryland. Further information was not released.

The search was led by Shenandoah National Park aided by Virginia Department of Emergency Management, Department of Wildlife and Recreation, Rockingham Fire Department, Harrisonburg Fire Department, Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office, Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group, Maryland State Police, United States Park Police, United States Customs and Border Protection, Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, Appalachian Trail Club, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, and all others that assisted with the search.
