Introducing Ioway Tribal National Park

Share

There's wide familiarity with "national parks," but what do you know about "tribal national parks"? Traveler's Lynn Riddick this week introduced listeners to Ioway Tribal National Park with a conversation with Lance Foster, a member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska.

As it currently is proposed, Ioway Tribal National park will sit on 564 acres along the Missouri River on the border of Nebraska and Kansas and represent the largest tribal national park in the United States.

Lance Foster shared his thoughts about the park during this week's podcast, explained how it will help the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska… and touched on the history it will honor. And he even shared some of his native language.

You can listen to the podcast here.

My husband's son is a member of the Iowa Tribe. We are excited for the park to open, so we can visit. It's abeautiful area. It's so great to preserve the land for the tribe and for visitors, who probably aren't familiar with that part of the country.
