Terry Tempest Williams To Speak At Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Share

Terry Tempest Williams, one of the country's most prominent voices for the conservation of landscapes, will be at Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota on Sunday to read from her latest book, The Hour Of Land.

The author traveled to a dozen units of the National Park System, including seven national parks, two national monuments, a national military park, national seashore, and national recreation area, for her exploration of this topography and a sampling of different elements of the system.

On Sunday at the park's South Unit Visitor Center she'll read from the book and follow up with book signings. The event, sponsored by the Theodore Roosevelt Nature and History Association and the park, begins at 6:30 MDT.

Often called America's Best Idea, national parks provide "breathing spaces in a world in which such spaces are steadily disappearing...The Hour of Land is a literary celebration of our national parks, what they mean to us, and what we mean to them," a park release said.

Previous books by Ms. Williams include Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place, Finding Beauty in a Broken World, and When Women Were Birds.
