The Current and Jacks Fork rivers in Missouri will flow more freely after Ozark National Scenic Riverways hosts a cleanup event April 22-23. Volunteers will tackle litter in the river and along the roads, trails, and riverbanks of the park by boat, kayak, canoe, and foot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Same-day registration is 8-11 a.m. each day at the following sites: Watercress landing in Van Buren, Missouri; Alley Spring river landing; Round Spring lower river landing; Two Rivers landing; and Akers Ferry upper river landing. Staff at the registration sites will provide trash bags and river bags. Dumpsters and recycling trailers will be available for trash disposal throughout the park. Participants are encouraged to bring work gloves and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

The Ozark Heritage Project is sponsoring a meal and entertainment for all participants beginning at 5 p.m. April 23 at the Watercress landing in Van Buren. All registered volunteers who attend the dinner will be eligible for prize giveaways.

In case of rain, alternative dates are May 6-7. For more information or to register, call (573) 323-4806.
