Aramark Leisure, which has run the concessions at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado for the past 33 years, will continue in that role, with another 10-year contract.
Under terms of the contract, which takes effect in January, the concessionaire will pay the National Park Service a minimum franchise fee of 6.5 percent of gross receipts, estimated at $7 million annually, and set aside 3.4 percent of receipts each year for a repair and maintenance fund. Included in the contract are lodging, campground, food and beverage, retail, tour, kennel, fuel, and other visitor services within the park.
The contract requires upgrading lodge rooms along with furnishings as well as providing kennel services.
Aramark Leisure has other concessions contracts at Denali National Park, Glacier Bay National Park, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, and Olympic National Park.
