Time is running out for Jon Jarvis to be confirmed as the next director of the National Park Service. If the Senate doesn't confirm his selection by the end of business Friday, the vote will have to wait until the Congress returns after the August break.
Mr. Jarvis, currently director of the Park Service's Pacific West Region, had his confirmation hearing before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee last week. Earlier this week the committee approved his nomination on a voice vote, with Senators John Barrasso, R-Wyoming, and James Risch, R-Idaho, both recorded as "no" votes.
With that out of the way, whether the nomination goes before the full Senate this week depends on the senators' schedule and how they juggle their workload.
