Grand Teton National Park

In November 2014, in a stunning out-of-the-blue reversal of decades of settled policy, the National Park Service ceded to Wyoming authority over wildlife on approximately 2300 acres of state- and privately-owned "inholdings" within the boundaries of Grand Teton National Park.

While pronghorn antelope are known to follow the longest migration corridor for large mammals in North America, wildlife biologists recently discovered a mule deer migration route that spans two states and crosses Grand Teton National Park.

Stating that the grizzly bear population in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem has recovered to the point of sustainability, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to remove the species from the Federal Lists of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife.

Both still waters and those running fast and at times furious are plentiful across the National Park System, offering seemingly endless options for where to dip your paddle. You can drift across the reflection of the Tetons on Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, savor some of the West’s best whitewater in Canyonlands and Arches national parks in Utah, or retrace the path of Major John Wesley Powell’s boats with a modern-day adventure down the Green River in Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado and Utah.
