National Park Service, Unable To Complete Concessions Contracts On Time, Moves To Extend Dozens Across Park System

Hammering out concessions contracts across the National Park System is not an easy, or quick, job. Failure to reach new contracts before existing ones expired at the end of 2014 prompted the National Park Service to propose extended dozens of contracts for up to a year to keep visitor services operating without interruption.

Twenty-One-Year-Old New York Woman Named As Suspect In "Creepytings" Vandalism In Western Parks

A 21-year-old New York woman, Casey Nocket, was identified Wednesday by the National Park Service as the prime suspect involved in painting images on rock outcrops in at least eight Western national parks.

Climber Dies In Fall At Zion National Park

A 47-year-old man became the eighth climber since 1983 to die in a climbing accident in Zion National Park when he apparently lost his balance and toppled backwards about 80 feet down a steep slope.

UPDATED: Hiker In The Narrows At Zion National Park Apparent Drowning Victim

One of the most iconic hikes in the National Park System, one that also potentially is one of the deadliest, has claimed another victim. Heavy rains that have been pounding southern Utah for days swelled the Virgin River that flows through the Narrows at Zion National Park well above flood stage and claimed the life of a 34-year-old man.
