Point Reyes National Seashore

Point Reyes National Seashore, in partnership with the veteran-based organization Team Rubicon, is hosting firefighter training for 75-80 veterans this coming weekend. Successful completion of the training will enable veterans to be deployed around the country to bolster capacity to fight wildland fire.

One visitor was killed and another injured when part of a popular overlook at Point Reyes National Seashore in California collapsed, dropping them 70 feet to the ground below.

Much has been written in recent years about the disconnect between the current generation of young people and the natural world, along with concerns that national parks are not seen as relevant by Americans from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Both issues aren't helped when field trips to parks and other off-site areas are often among the first casualties of tight school budgets. One solution is being provided by the National Park Foundation's "Ticket to Ride" grant program.
