Fire Restrictions Taking Effect In Southeast Utah National Park Units

Heightened fire danger in southeastern Utah due to prolonged drought and rising temperatures has prompted the National Park Service to put fire restrictions in place, beginning Saturday, June 28, for Arches and Canyonlands national parks and Hovenweep and Natural Bridges national monuments.

DOGE Won't Terminate The NPS Lease For Moab Headquarters

Plans by the Department of Government Efficiency to terminate the lease of a building the National Park Service uses in Moab, Utah, as headquarters for Arches and Canyonlands national parks and Hovenweep and Natural Bridges national monuments have been scrapped.

Hovenweep, Natural Bridges National Monuments Going Cashless

Late this month both Hovenweep National Monument and Natural Bridges National Monument in Utah will transition to a fully cashless fee system and accept only mobile or electronic payments for entrance and camping fees. Camping at both parks will transition to being managed through Recreation.gov.

Big Thicket National Preserve in Texas is one of the National Park System units in the path of the annular solar eclipse next month and park staff are offering solar-filtered telescopes and eclipse glasses for safe viewing, ranger programs, and a sneak peek at the preserve's 50th anniversary celebrations in 2024.
