Lodging And Camping At White Sands

There is no in-park lodging within White Sands National Park in New Mexico, but there are plenty of overnight options at the nearby city of Alamogordo, approximately 16 miles (26 kilometers) northeast of the park and Las Cruces, approximately 50 miles southwest of the park.

If you would rather pitch a tent directly under the stars at White Sands, there are no camping options, either. Backcountry camping is currently closed due to rehabilitation of camping sites and no date has been determined for its reopening.

There are, however several campgrounds in the general vicinity of the park, including federal, state, and private options.
