Despite the fact there is no in-park lodging at Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina, the nearby villages and communities offer a variety of overnight choices from hotels/motels to bed & breakfast establishments. If pitching a tent or parking your RV or trailer directly beneath the stars is more your style, this national seashore offers four frontcountry campgrounds. Below is a quick rundown of each campground. Senior/Access passholders receive a 50 percent discount for all sites except group sites. Oregon Inlet Campground is located near Nags Head, North Carolina, and is open year-round. This campground offers 107 sites (30 tent-only), 47 of which have electric hookups. There are three ADA-accessible sites and one group site which will accommodate a minimum of seven people and a maximum of 30 people. Standard sites are $28 per night, sites with electric hookups are $35 nightly, and the group site is $70 per night. Reservations are required through recreation.gov. Maximum RV/trailer length: 40 feet. Showers are available seasonally. Drinking water, dump station, trash collection, cell reception, and flush toilets are available year-round.

Cape Point Campground is located near Buxton, North Carolina, and is openApril 3-November 29, 2026. There are 202 sites (49 tent-only) including three ADA-accessible sites. Each site is $20 per night and reservations are required through recreation.gov. Maximum RV/trailer length: 40 feet. No electric hookups. Drinking water, cell reception, trash collection, dump station, flush toilets, and showers are available seasonally.

Frisco Campground is located near Frisco, North Carolina, and is open April 3 - November 29, 2026. There are 117 sites (10 RV-only; three tent-only) including one ADA-accessible site (C007). Each site is $28 per night and reservations are required through recreation.gov. Maximum RV/trailer length: 40 feet. No electric hookups. Drinking water, cell reception, trash collection, flush toilets, and showers are available seasonally.

Ocracoke Campground is located near Ocracoke, North Carolina, and is open year-round, offering 135 sites including two ADA-accessible sites (B015 & B017). Each site is $28 per night and reservations are required through recreation.gov. Maximum RV/trailer length: 40 feet. No electric hookups. Drinking water, cell reception, trash collection, flush toilets, dump station, and showers are available year-round.
Camping directly on the beach is not permitted, but once you have set up your site at any of these campgrounds, you can access the beach after a short walk up and over the dunes.
