Wildfires Keep South Entrance To Yellowstone National Park Closed

A lightning-sparked wildfire in Grand Teton National Park that might not be contained before snow flies continued Wednesday to keep access through Yellowstone National Park's South Entrance blocked, creating long detours for visitors heading into and out of the world's first national park.

UPDATED: South Entrance To Yellowstone National Park Closed By Grand Teton Fire

While smoky conditions and firefighting activity in Grand Teton National Park on Tuesday kept the south entrance road into Yellowstone National Park closed, a wall of fire was moving towards the West Entrance Road inside Yellowstone.

The slide projector whirred on the table next to my desk as Mrs. Sampson, our fourth-grade teacher, worked the balky advancement mechanism. Missing Teen Located In Grand Teton National Park

A teenager who apparently ran away from a service detail on Thursday was found Saturday morning in Grand Teton National Park and taken to a Jackson, Wyoming, hospital for a welfare check before being handed over to the Teton County Sheriff's Department, park officials said.

Climbing Guide Was Trying To Free Gear When He Fell To His Death At Grand Teton National Park

The most unnerving moment of my climb to the summit of Grand Teton in its namesake national park in Wyoming came on the way down via the Owen-Spalding Route. We had come to the point where you have a free rappel of about 100-120 feet, and after the guide tied me into the rappel line and checked my harness and rappel device, I took a step back toward the brink of the cliff, only to have him shout, "Wait, wait," and then proceed to retie the gear.
