Drastic Changes Possible As Acadia National Park Develops Transportation Plan

Closing the Park Loop Road to private vehicles during peak season, a reservation system on Cadillac Mountain, and car quotas on Ocean Drive are among the ideas under consideration as Acadia National Park forms a transportation plan aimed at improving the visitor experience while preserving natural and cultural resources.

Still Time To Celebrate Acadia National Park's Centennial

Fewer than 100 days remain in Acadia National Park’s centennial year. As Acadia’s autumn builds toward its fiery peak, the Acadia Centennial Task Force is reminding Acadia-area residents that 2016—exhilarating, memorable, and (perhaps!) exhausting as it has already been—will end with a blaze of centennial glory that shouldn’t be missed.

Septic System Work Will Close Two Areas Of Acadia National Park For The Season

When Labor Day ends, the work begins at Acadia National Park. Two areas of Mount Desert Island in Maine – Seawall Campground and some visitor facilities at Sieur de Monts – will be closed for the season starting Tuesday as crews work to improve the septic systems that serve those areas.
