When Congress held hearings in the 1970s to establish Cumberland Island National Seashore, it received much public comment about restricting visitation to the seashore, and the National Park Service eventually settled on a daily cap of 300. Now, however, the agency is proposing to more than double that number and expand access to the largest undeveloped barrier island on the Eastern seaboard.

The Bureau of Land Management has put forward a proposal that, if approved, would revoke grazing permits used to sustain American Prairie’s bison herd in north-central Montana.

A new National Park Service rule expanding recreation access will soon designate nearly 80 miles of trails for bicycle and e-bike use at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
