Parks Looking For Youth Conservation Corps Applicants

High school students interested in spending their summer in a national park and gaining valuable skills have at least three parks to consider for jobs with the Youth Conservation Corps. Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, and Joshua Tree National Park in California all are seeking applications for their YCC programs.

Essential Paddling Guide '15: Kayaking And Camping In The Ross Lake National Recreation Area

We started paddling from the south end of Ross Lake just as a breeze began to riffle the blue-green water. By the time we were ready to stop for lunch an hour later, the north wind straight out of Canada had whipped the calm waters into a froth of whitecaps. So instead of picnicking on the beach, we gobbled down some energy bars and fought our way north through the chop.

Olympic National Park’s Pyramid Peak Trail has reopened after a nearly six-month closure. The trail closed in late August 2104 because of unsafe conditions in a slide-prone area.

Higher Fees Coming To Mammoth Cave National Park In March

Mammoth Cave National Park Superintendent Sarah Craighead has announced that fee increases proposed last year will take effect on March 14. This year, income from park fees will fund renovations at the Mammoth Cave Hotel, she said.
