National Parks Traveler

The view from atop the Grand Teton is incredible. To the west, the Jedediah Smith Wilderness stands. To the north, Yellowstone National Park. To the east, Jackson Hole, with the moraine that is Timbered Island so very well defined. If you haven't climbed to the top of the 13,770-foot peak in Grand Teton National Park yet, or can't, you can still enjoy the view.

What path should the National Park Service take as it enters its second century? How can the National Park Service continue to nurture landscapes, cultures, and American history without compromising the world's best collection of parks? In this unique collection of papers, National Parks Traveler will recapture Stephen Mather’s ambition of preserving “the most inspiring playgrounds and the best equipped nature schools in the world.”

There will be limited parking at Delicate Arch in Arches National Park beginning in March and running through April as work begins to expand the parking lot.

While it's nice to hike with friends, too many friends can take away from the experience and impact resources. With that in mind, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy is suggesting that thru-hikers register when they're going to start off on the A.T. from Springer Mountain this spring.
