There is one campground and no lodging within Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota. There are, however, lodging options outside the park ranging from rentals to B&Bs to hotel/motel rooms at both Hot Springs and Custer, South Dakota. Custer is the larger of the two towns with a bit more consistent lodging.
When making your overnight lodging decision, it’s always prudent to read reviews from previous customers. Travelocity.com and tripadvisor.com are good places to start.

The Elk Mountain Campground in Wind Cave is open year-round, offering 64 sites (14 tent-only, 50 RV-only), including 2 wheelchair-accessible campsites (#17 and #49). During the peak season of May 16 - September 30, 2026, reservations are required through recreation.gov and the nightly cost is $24, credit or debit card only (no cash). Before and after the peak season, sites are first-come, first-served at $12 per night. During the non-peak season Senior/Access passholders receive a half-price discount.
There are also 2 group sites accommodating 9 – 30 people at $45 per night.
Maximum length for RVs/Trailers is 40 feet (12.19 m) but not all sites will accommodate that length.
Flush toilets and drinking water are available spring through early fall. Fees are half price when water is not available.
