Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield invites visitors to learn about battlefield preservation through a special summer speaker series leading up to the 164th anniversary of the Battle of Wilson's Creek.
The This Hallowed Ground Speaker Series is presented at 1 p.m. each Sunday through Aug. 3. The program features Wilson’s Creek staff and guest speakers and explores various aspects of battlefield preservation, including stories about extraordinary efforts from local citizens and how Wilson’s Creek itself became a national battlefield.
All programs take place at the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield Visitor Center, 10 miles southwest of Springfield, Missouri.

Administered by the National Park Service, Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield preserves the site of the first major battle of the Civil War in the West. The Confederate victory on Aug. 10, 1861, focused greater national attention on the war in Missouri, leading to greater federal military action.
Entrance to the programs and Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield is free. For additional information or to request program accommodations please call the visitor center at 417-732-2662. Weather cancellations and other updates can be found on the park’s Facebook page and website.
