Hundreds Of Undocumented Migrants Apprehended In Big Bend National Park

U.S. Border Patrol agents have apprehended hundreds of illegal aliens in Big Bend National Park in recent weeks/USBP

Hundreds of undocumented migrants have been apprehended in Big Bend National Park in Texas in recent weeks, though park officials say the average park visitor shouldn't be impacted by the activity.

Between November 25 and December 1 more than 200 undocumented migrants were taken into custody in the park, with more than 70 undocumented migrants from Venezuela apprehended on Dec. 1 alone. Another group of more than 40 individuals, mostly from Venezuela, were apprehended on Monday, the agency added.

"We've seen continuing apprehensions in Big Bend" since then, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol spokesman Greg Davis said in an email Tuesday. "Apprehensions have been without incident."

At the national park, Superintendent Bob Krumenaker issued a short statement to the Traveler, saying "[W]e are working closely with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol in responding to border crossings within the park. While we have seen an increase in activity on the border within the park in recent weeks, we have not seen impacts to the typical visitor experience.”

Why are the faces of adults blocked out?  They are in a public space on public land in police custody for violating the law.  Why is the license plate of a government police vehicle blocked out?  What else is edited?

The photo's caption says that it was provided by the Border Patrol.  So they chose to block out those parts.  I've found other photos provided by the Border Patrol showing detentions and it's pretty standard to block out the faces of those being detained.
