Snowshoe Hike And Cross-Country Skiing At Mesa Verde National Park Planned For January 6

Share

The snow gods willing, there will be a snowshoe hike and cross-country skiing event at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado on January 6.

Park staff intend to have the event under moonlight that night. It will be staged out of the Morefield Campground, where winter trails will be open from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. This event is free and open to all ages.

Bring your skis or snowshoes and enjoy the trails by moonlight. Be sure to dress for the cold, bring appropriate outdoor gear, and a headlamp or flashlight. Snowshoes will be available to checkout. Glow sticks will be set out to lead you to complementary hot beverages and a campfire. Rangers will also have telescope viewing (conditions permitting), and storytelling.

Morefield Campground is located 4 miles past the park entrance, on the right hand side. Parking will be at the Morefield Store. This event is subject to cancellation due to bad weather.
