Share

The historic 1907 Keeper's Quarters at Cape Lookout National Seashore was damaged by vandals last month.

As Cape Lookout National Seashore reopens in the wake of Tropical Storm Hermine, the North Carolina park is investigating vandalism that occurred last weekend at the historic 1907 Keeper’s Quarters.

This home sits along the waters of Cape Lookout Bight and was original to the Light Station. The vandalism occurred between August 27 and 28, and volunteers reported the incident the morning of August 29.

“The damage to the historic home includes nine separate windows having the glass panes broken out and window frames pulled apart, construction items and window frames being thrown out of the broken second floor windows, and an entire section of the porch railing with spindles being torn apart,” the park said in a release.

Anyone with information that may help to determine the events that led to this vandalism is asked to contact Chief Ranger Jill Jaworski at (252) 728-2250, ext. 3034.
