National Park Mystery Spot 7: It’s Not Hard to See

National Park Mystery Spot 17 is ….

Not hard to see

Not wood or stone

Not smaller than the rest

Not red, white, and blue like the real barber pole

Not like Nevil Shute’s ’57 masterpiece anymore

Not as much fun after Columbus Day

Be sure to check back with Traveler tomorrow for the answer and an explanation of the clues.

Is it the Cape Hatteras lighthouse at the Cape Hatteras National Seashore? We saw it a few years ago but I've never climbed it.

Cape Hatteras lighhouse?

Cape Hatteras light house? Every clue fits but the last. "Not much fun"?

Actually the last clue does fit, the light house closes to the public after Columbus day each year. Its got to be the Cape Hatteras light house.

The Mystery Spot is indeed the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Here's how the scoring went:

Terry was the first to provide the correct answer.

Rangertoo was the second to correctly identify the mystery spot and the first to spell it incorrectly.

jchappell740 was the third to correctly identify the mystery spot and the second to spell it incorrectly.

Ranger Will gets an honorable mention for honoring the point (though he also needs to work on his spelling).

Nice guying, everybody.

Check back tomorrow when we'll post Mystery Spot 7 Revealed and provide some additional interesting information about the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

All I could figure was the Nevil Shute reference, which must have been referring to "On the Beach".
