Highway 140 To Yosemite Expected to Be Closed All Summer

Share

Well, sounds like you can cross California 140 off your travel plans if you're heading to Yosemite National Park this summer.
Rock slides across the highway that have been occurring since late April more than likely will keep that highway to the park closed all summer, and likely longer, according to Yosemite officials. "It presents a safety concern, so it's going to stay closed," park spokeswoman Adrienne Freeman told the Modesto Bee.

So, how do you reach Yosemite? Easy. You can either take California 41 north through Fish Camp and into the park's south entrance, travel California 120 east from Modesto to the Big Oak Flat Entrance, or, if you're coming from areas east of Yosemite, travel 120 west from Lee Vining to the Tioga Pass Entrance.
Frankly, I prefer the Tioga Pass route, as it takes you into a less-crowded, equally spectacular, section of Yosemite.
