Capping Climbers on Mount McKinley

Share

In a bid to keep things somewhat safe and tidy on Mount McKinley, officials at Denali National Park and Preserve are instituting a cap on the number of climbers that can assault the mountain each year.
Dena_mtmckinley_thumb_copyThe limit, of 1,500, will take effect in 2007, as officials say it's too late to enforce it this year. Interestingly, that cap is higher than the number of climbers who tried to reach the summit of the 20,320-foot-high mountain last year -- when 1,340 attempted the trek.
You can read more about the cap on climbers here.
