National Park Service Proposes To Cure Flooding Problem At Arches National Park

Too much sediment and too many tamarisk trees are behind the frequent flooding that occurs in Salt Wash near the trailhead to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, according to park staff, who are proposing to cure the problem by removing nonnative tamarisk from a 115-acre tract and cleaning out sediment-clogged drainages.

UEA Weekend Construction Schedule Change Announced For Arches National Park

The Utah Education Association holiday weekend construction schedule has been changed for Arches National Park. The park will now be open with no road construction work from 7 a.m. Friday, October 20, to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 22.

UPDATED | Congressman Introduces Legislation To Extensively Rewrite Antiquities Act

A Utah congressman long unhappy with the authority given presidents under The Antiquities Act to establish national monuments has introduced legislation that would extensively rewrite the century-old act. If enacted, the rewrite would limit the purposes for which monuments could be created, require environmental review, and allow presidents to reduce the size of monuments without congressional action.

Windows Section At Arches National Park To Reopen September 1, But Roadwork Far From Over

Roadwork this summer has really upset visitation at Arches National Park in southeastern Utah, as various attractions have been closed to visitors and delays on the park road a daily occurrence. Crews are resurfacing, restoring, and rehabilitating approximately 23 miles of roads and pullouts in Arches National Park along the entrance road (from US Highway 191 to the visitor center), main park road, the campground road, and other spur roads and loops. Road work is scheduled to last through November.
