A 69-year-old Idaho man on a private float trip through Grand Canyon National Park has died after falling into the Colorado River.
Park staff say that Jimmie Blair, of New Meadows, Idaho, fell into the river above Hance Rapid on Sunday. Members of the party pulled him out of the water and began CPR, according to a park release, while a personal locator beacon was activated to summon help.
Park rangers were flown into the location via the park helicopter; resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. Mr. Blair was on day nine of a multi-day private boating trip.
An investigation is being conducted by the National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
