UPDATED: Trump Administration Orders Interior Department To Shut Down Twitter Accounts

Share

Editor's note: This updates with apparent cause for the order to halt Twitter feeds.

A few national park Twitter accounts, at least, went silent Friday afternoon after the newly installed Trump administration ordered the Interior Department to idle its accounts.

"... All bureaus and the department have been directed by incoming administration to shut down Twitter platforms immediately until further notice," read a notice that went out across the National Park System on Friday.

President Trump, of course, is famous for using his Twitter account at all times of the day.

The issue behind the order was apparently an unflattering retweet the National Park Service made comparing crowds at President Obama's 2009 inauguaration and Trump's inauguration. The photos were telling: gaps in the crowds for Trump's inauguration, and a National Mall practically bursting at the seams for Obama's.

Not all parks seemed to get the message, though, as a number of parks were still posting tweets Friday evening.

The quote below is from a Mr. Banks who was a big money man behind the UK's vote to leave the EU. It helps explain why Trump is our president. Facts on global warming will never matter to the deniers.  With the Republicans in charge we may still have National Parks but they will be islands surrounded by mines, deforested lands, and oil and gas wells on other public lands. And why worry about our air quality, no one needs to see the stars any way and most already can't, and with bottled water from Fiji to drink our water quality does not need to be a concern.

"Never apologize," he said he had told Mr. Trump. "Facts are white noise," and "emotions rule."

If you think suppressing free speech is ok, then you need to study the constituion that this country is frounded on.  A president who shuts off communication because he is so think skinned is not going to do good for this country.

Man oh man, the trogolodytes are really feeling emboldened by their proven ability to elect a subliterate self-admitted sexual predator to the nation's highest office.

The day of truth for them will be when the new oligarchs start to take action. When the Trump voters surviving on Medicare find their Medicare is reduced. When their view of the park's majesty gets interrupted by oil rigs. Then their own rights of peaceful assembly begin to crumble.

By the way - the people have spoken? Only by the particular mechanics of the electoral college. When you try to speak of a national mandate, 2.6 million more people disagreed with Trump than supported him.

Shaming and silencing those who disagree with you is a very old political tactic.  But it is not an American one.

"Time to be mature and learn there is a new boss and official federal social media sites are not for personal messaging".  Are they not following the precidence set forth by their new boss?

When you try to speak of a national mandate, 2.6 million more people disagreed with Trump than supported him.

Which means as much as one football team gained more yards but was outscored.  If the definition of winning was popular vote rather than electoral college (which thankfully it isn't), the campaign would have been run differently with a good likelyhood the outcome would have been the same.

Can someone please let me know what "politized adjusted data" means?   I assume it means when the police state takes over and tries to remove historical records in order to benefit their corporate masters that own them?  I might be wrong.

Regardless, 16 of the last 17 years have been the warmest on record, with last year being the warmest on record globally.  The north pole has temperatures ranging from 30 to 50 degrees above normal in the early part of this winter, and here in the upper Southeast we are experiencing temps about 20 degrees above average, with only a handful of days that saw dips below freezing.

As for your comment about Glacier.  There are many historical photograph showcasing erosion of glacial activity in the park.  When I lived in the Rockies, watching permanent snowfields dissapear off the mountains in a short decade long span was common.  The Tetons have also documented their glaciers losing ice over the last century....  Ohh yeah, and the extreme ice survey has plenty of timelapses showing glaciers losing mass over the last decade throughout the planet.. . Either way, Beach... you should watch trying to pretend that you know the difference between "Fake News" and well researched journalism, let alone scientific research, especially when you seem to be one of the biggest consumers of fake news on this site, and constantly link out to such sites in your commentary.

I have no reason to protest, nor is that my style.  However, i'm suprised that you have time to comment on here, especially since your far-right fuhrer is now in office, and you seem to be wasting time bothering to "educate us" here.  Why aren't you out dumping science books in a pile and burning them with your neo-nazi, KKK, and breitbart buddies?  Your comment below proves that you haven't a clue, and just wish for the erosion of the scientific community so that it suits your wanton needs and desires.  It's evident you have never worked on any projects in your life that required scientific expertise... and at best you are just another hooker of the industrial tourism community, and it bites you when those scientists put up road blocks that irk you..

Beachdump stated "There has been beach erosion long before the SUV.  There is a difference between politized "adjusted" data and real raw data, I'll stick with the real raw scientific data. That real raw data shows virtually no global warming and no acceleration of sea levels. I look forward to getting real information from our government now.

Gary aren't you supposed to be rioting somewhere today?"

Totally expected response from you Gary. I would again provide you with scientific data but you wouldnt be able understand it. The climate scam is officially over.

Global warming is indeed man-made.  By fraudsters at NOAA and NASA who keep changing their data to make the past cooler and the present warmer. Based on the NASA temperature data from the year 2000 and satellite data since then, there has been no more than 0.6C warming since the middle of the 18th century. NASA shows more than twice that much warming now, due to their abuse of data.
