Behind the Scenes With Yosemite Nature Notes

Since most of us have limited time when we visit national parks, we can't always see all there is to see. And sometimes our own limitations restrict where we can go and what we can see. That's when folks like Steven Baumgardner and their trusty videocameras in places such as Yosemite National Park come to our rescue.

Mr. Baumgardner has produced a steady flow of videos that explore different aspects of Yosemite, such as rock falls, big trees, and rivers. During his recent work on an upcoming video of the park's glaciers, he and cameraman Josh Helling created a "behind the scenes" production to give you an idea of what it takes to make these videos.

As the following video shows, these guys have a great job!

Thanks for this great video. As a young seasonal naturalist, I participated in the 1961 glacier survey trip to Mount Lyell, and it has been an inspiration to me ever since. That grand wilderness landscape is my fondest memory of Yosemite National Park.
