Obata Exhibit at Yosemite Worth A Stop

Share

Yosechiura_obata3     There's a new reason to head to Yosemite National Park this year, if the waterfalls and granite domes are not reason enough.
This past Saturday the park launched an exhibit featuring the artistic creations of Chiura Obata, a Japanese artist who first visited Yosemite in the 1920s and from that trip created a series of remarkable watercolor paintings that were transferred into woodblock prints.
The Yosemite exhibit, which runs through October 21, features more than 30 woodblock prints, charcoal sketches, watercolor paintings, along with many of Mr. Obata's paints and brushes. You can view the display at the Yosemite Museum Gallery, which is open daily from 10 a.m. until noon, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
