Venture Capitalists, Businesses Urge Secretary Zinke To Drop Monument Recommendations

A group of venture capitalists and entrepreneurs that views public lands as a valuable quality-of-life issue for employees is urging Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to scrap his recommendations to shrink the boundaries of national monuments or allow for resource extraction in them, saying preservation of monuments is "critical" for corporate success.

Though an evacuation warning remained in place Thursday for West Glacier and Apgar in Glacier National Park, a change in weather that could bring drizzle and even snow to the park could help firefighters get the upper hand on the Sprague Fire.

Evacuation Warning Issued For West Glacier, Apgar Village At Glacier National Park

With an approaching cold front that could blow up the Sprague Fire, authorities on Wednesday issued an evacuation warning for the West Glacier and Apgar areas of Glacier National Park in Montana. The order didn't call for an evacuation, but rather notified residents to be ready to leave if conditions warranted.

"Rain For Rent" Intended To Protect Lake McDonald Lodge In Glacier National Park

"Rain for Rent," a large-scale piping system designed to spray water over large areas, was being installed at Lake McDonald Lodge in Glacier National Park to protect the historic facility and its surrounding complex from the Sprague Fire that has been burning for nearly a month in the mountains above the lake.
