If you are looking to stay at brick-and-mortar lodging within Indiana Dunes National Park, there is a cabin operated by an outside authorized business and not affiliated with the National Park Service. The park does offer a standard campground, a group camping site, and several walk-in tent sites. And if you happen to get hungry, there are several food and beverage vendors conducting business within the park.
Cypress Log Cabin
Designed by Murray D. Heatherington and once only accessible to the public through select national park tours, the Cypress Log Cabin offers 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, suitable for 12 people. In addition to the expansive water view, amenities include a kitchen, air conditioning, smart TV, game room, botanical garden, parking, firepit, internet, and an outdoor grill. Pets, smoking, fireworks, and parties are not permitted. During the summer, there is a minimum 4-night stay costing a little over $5,000 total (not including taxes) with a $1,000 security deposit. During the rest of the year there is a minimum 2-night stay with a total cost of a little over $1,500 (not including taxes) and a $1,000 security deposit.
If the cabin is not available, the park’s proximity to nearby cities and towns allow for a wide range of hotels, motels, B&Bs, and vacation rentals. You can narrow down your search for nearby suggested services or establishments by county. The counties listed from west to east are Lake County, Porter County, and La Porte County.
