Senators Hope To Reverse President Trump's Move On Monuments And Enlarge Bears Ears

Were they 18 Republican senators instead of 18 Democrats, the attempt to reverse President Trump's move to shrink two national monuments in Utah might prove worth watching, but with Republican majorities in the House and Senate, it likely will prove to be nothing more than a Hail Mary. Even more so when you realize the legislation would create a larger Bears Ears National Monument than President Obama did.

Republican Senator Asks Zinke To Drop Surge-Pricing Scheme For Park Fees

A Republican senator from Colorado is pushing back against Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke's surge-pricing scheme that would more than double entrance fees at 17 popular national parks during the height of the travel seasons, urging the secretary instead to work towards a "legislative solution to the maintenance backlog."

While Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has not publicly changed his position on relying on surge pricing in an effort to chisel away at the maintenance backlog facing the National Park Service, the cost ranchers pay to graze their livestock on public lands in the West is falling by 25 percent.

Former POWs To Speak At Andersonville National Historic Site

On Sunday, April 8, former POWs, veterans, and others will gather at Andersonville National Historic Site in Georgia to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the National Prisoner of War Museum. Featured speakers will include Seymour Lichtenfeld, held prisoner by Germany during World War II, and David Eberly, a former POW during Desert Storm.
