Shenandoah National Park will celebrate its Fourth Annual Night Sky Festival from August 9 to 11. Rangers and guest speakers will present a variety of programs at sites throughout the park focusing on space, celestial objects, and the importance of dark night skies.

An F-18 fighter jet on a training flight crashed in Death Valley National Park on Wednesday, with debris injuring several visitors at the Father Crowley Overlook on the west side of the park. There was no immediate word on the fate of the pilot.

Tornadoes are commonplace in the Midwest, routinely showing up in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and eastern Wyoming and Colorado. When one touched down in Voyageurs National Park earlier this month, though, it raised the question of whether a change in extreme weather events is coming to the northern Minnesota park.

A cattle drive set to take place early Saturday morning in Grand Teton National Park will require the temporary closure of U.S. Highway 26/89/191 between Moran Junction and Elk Ranch Flats.
