Tour Of The Moon Bicycle Tour Pedals Through Colorado National Monument

This Saturday the Tour of the Moon recreational bicycle ride will pedal through Colorado National Monument. The cyclists will travel over Rim Rock Drive, entering the monument at the east entrance off of Monument Road near Grand Junction, Colorado, and exiting at the west entrance onto Highway 340 near Fruita. Cyclists will be limited to the west bound lane.

Interior Officials Defend Use Of FLREA Dollars To Keep Parks Open During Shutdown

Revenues collected through the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act have routinely been used for custodial work and maintenance projects in the National Park System, according to documents the Interior Department is citing to defend its use of those revenues to help parks stay open during this year's partial government shutdown.

Denali National Park Staff Evaluating Condition of Park Road, Hoping for Colder Winter

Denali National Park and Preserve engineers are taking a close look at the condition of the Park Road, particularly the Pretty Rocks portion of Polychrome Pass, an area known for its increasing geologic activity. Movement of the Pretty Rocks landslide at mile 45.4 of the Park Road is multiplying, creating need for intensified monitoring, maintenance, and planning.
