The Capitol Reef Reader Dives Deep Into The Park's Geologic And Cultural BackgroundsNearly 400 readers took time out to complete a survey on National Parks Traveler, and the bottom line was that a strong majority found the nonprofit media organization valuable for keeping them atop of news from the National Park System.

Of those who completed the survey, 65 percent said the Traveler was "extremely" valuable for keeping them abreast of news, while another 34.5 percent said the site was "somewhat" valuable for them.

Among other findings:

* 31.5 percent did not know National Parks Traveler was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

* 59.8 percent said they read the site once a week, 19.4 percent said they read it three times a week, and 20.7 percent said they read it every day.

* 75.4 percent said they read both news and feature content on the site, 19.2 percent said they focused only on the news items.

* Nearly 38 percent wanted to see more news stories from around the National Park System, 29.7 percent wanted more features covering all facets of the parks, 18.2 percent said they wanted regular columns touching on topics such as photography in the parks, birding, and RVing in the parks.

* 80 percent said they couldn't afford to donate to the Traveler at this time, but hoped to do so in the future, nearly 13 percent said they could afford $5/month, and 3.8 percent said they could afford $100 per year.
