Pitching your tent in a national park and surrounding yourself with nature is a great way to spend a weekend, or a week. But if you've never done it before and would like to try it out, rangers at Denali National Park and Preserve are ready to help.
From June 28 through June 30 the park is offering its Family C.A.M.P. (Camping Adventures with My Parents) program at the Savage River Campground, which can be found at about Mile 13 on the Denali Park Road.
The program can handle about 20 people. At the campground, they'll pitch camp with rangers from the Fairbanks Alaska Public Lands Information Center. The center will provide the camping gear for participants, and Alaska Geographic will provide meals and snacks from Friday evening through Sunday lunch.
For more information on this program or to apply, email the park education staff at [email protected] by Wednesday, June 19. Or you can pick up an application form from the Alaska Public Lands Center information desk in the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Centers between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
