Canyons Trail at Jewel Cave National Monument/Kurt Repanshek

A waterline project at Jewel Cave National Monument will require that the Canyons Trail be closed until late June/Kurt Repanshek file

Due to a waterline construction project at Jewel Cave National Monument in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the surface trails are temporarily closed through late June.  The 3.5-mile Canyons Trail is closed from the visitor center to the Jewel Cave Historic Area; the Canyons Trail spur from the Roof Trail to the historic cabin Civilian Conservation Corps crews built in 1936 is also closed.

A portion of the quarter-mile Roof Trail is also closed. Visitors can still access the first part of the Roof Trail near the visitor center and hike approximately 100 yards to an observation deck. However, the remaining portion of the trail is closed and signed accordingly.
