Interagency Cliff Rescue At Golden Gate National Recreation Area

Golden Gate National Recreation Area/Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

A stranded hiker was rescued by United States Park Police and Golden Gate National Recreation Area Park Rangers.

On the morning of Tuesday, March 19th, Park Police and Park Rangers responded to a report of a stranded hiker on a cliffside near Battery Crosby. Battery Crosby is located between Marshall Beach and Baker Beach, managed by Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The Golden Gate National Recreation Area is one of the largest urban parks on Earth, hosting over 17 million visitors each and every year. In addition to historic sites and an impressive museum collection, the recreation area encompasses 19 ecosystems and over 2,000 flora and fauna varities.

More than 20 staff members from San Francisco Fire Department responded with technical rope rescue and firefighter staff. California Highway Patrol provided helicopter support while the San Francisco Fire Department prepared a high-angle rescue and brought the hiker to a safe area for medical evaluations.

The hiker suffered no injuries.
