Explore Ranger Programs At Sitka National Historical Park

Traveling to Alaska this summer? Consider putting Sitka National Historical Park in Sitka on your agenda and take advantage of daily guided programs connecting visitors to the park’s natural and cultural resources.

The Russian-American History Downtown Walking Tour visits sites related to Sitka’s Russian American Heritage: The Russian Bishop’s House, St. Michael’s Cathedral, Building 29, the Blockhouse, and Castle Hill. This guided walk covers approximately a half-mile and lasts about one hour. This tour meets at the front gate of the Russian Bishop House.

Visitor center ranger programs cover numerous topics that vary throughout the day. Program topics include totemic art, sea otters, salmon, and the Battle of 1804. Programs last approximately 15 minutes and take place on the Seaside Porch at the visitor center on the hour and half hour.

Russian Bishop House programs explore the second floor of the home and are now free to the public. These programs occur every day starting at 9 a.m. and last 20 minutes. The last tour for the day is at 4:30 p.m. Meet at the visitor center.
